Pictures I took today:

This is my ONE watermelon. I had two, but gave the one to my parents (it was on another plant).

These are some random tomatoes that I have right now...

These are my carrots (they are way too close together) but nothing I can do now. First time I've ever tried to grow carrots. (these are dwarfs)..

Last night and today I planted some green onions, marigolds (flowers), carrots-little finger, and California Wonder bell peppers and some sugar baby watermelon. (My watermelons did NOT grow in the toilet tubes). And I plan on planting some beef steak tomatoes and buying one more tomato plant-patio. But ran out of soil. And John says to me we are going to have more foliage than anyone here.. HEHE I don't mind. I'm excited to see whats going to happen. We have approx 12 yes 12 cucumbers-pickelbush. I hope to have that many watermelons...

I'll take pictures as soon as the seeds grow..

Transplanted

We had to transplant our vegetables because they were too big for the toilet paper tubes, well I ran out of soil and haven't been to the store to buy more yet so I figured that the black pots are better than the toilet paper tubes.

The first picture is of the cucumbers (three pots worth) The black containers are cucmbers and one is carrots (the little sprouts). And then the tomatoes, we are going to also buy another one also, just haven't yet. Our tomato plant is called 'patio something' meaning they are small tomatoes, well guess what we have TWO green growing on it.

Gardening

This year 2008 our family will be gardening. Container gardening that is, since we don't have a back yard we can use.

So this is what our plants look like as of today. We choose dwarf plants or certain variety's that grow best in containers.

We are starting our watermelon, cucumbers, and carrots, and marigolds (keep pest away), from seeds. I was not able to start my tomatoes from seeds because I was unable to find a certain BUSHY variety called Patio, so we bought the plant instead.

Isaac is very interested in gardening and I hope it continues.

We are trying two different ways to grow the seeds, and egg carton and toilet paper rolls (which are doing great). The foil is in the container for purposes of not letting the tubes fall over. And the extra sticks, well Isaac pulled them out, so we have some tubes that we're not sure what they are right now. Oh, the best thing about the toilet tubes is that you open the bottom up a little (its cut and folded over one at a time) it will break up in the soil..
